1. Swing States
If the elections were held today, Donald Trump would likely win a second presidential term. According to this week’s Morning Consult poll, Trump leads in four of the seven swing states, which, if he won, would result in a theoretical 268 electoral college votes. Two votes shy of the presidency.
2. Delay, Delay, Delay
Three of Donald Trump's four court trials appear to be in judicial limbo. Only the Hush Money case has a scheduled start date of April 15th, but we will likely result in a misdemeanor charge for Trump.
3. Billable Hours
The two special counsel Jack Smith cases have no scheduled start date. Aileen Cannon, the judge overseeing Trump’s espionage case, is a Trump appointee who has been raising eyebrows over her unconventional management of the Mar-a-Lago espionage case.
The second Jack Smith case, about Jan 6, is stalled by SCOTUS, which is slow-walking a hearing on presidential immunity.
Trump credits “good luck” for the stalled cases, but the former president can thank more than his luck; his PAC pays out a million dollars in legal fees weekly, raising concerns that Trump is buying justice.
