Narativ Milestone: Trump Fits Profile of Psychopath or Sociopath

Groundbreaking assessment by Dr. Daniel Winarick sheds new light on former president's behavior during COVID-19 pandemic

Five years ago, in April 2020, I spoke with Dr. Daniel Winarick on my show Narativ. During our conversation, Dr. Winarick made a bold claim: then-president Donald Trump exhibited behaviors consistent with anti-social personality disorder (ASPD), a condition often associated with psychopaths and sociopaths. This groundbreaking assertion marked the first time a broadcast had openly suggested that a sitting US president might fit such a clinical profile.

Dr. Winarick's assessment came two years after the publication of a book that argued Donald Trump had Narcissistic Personality Disorder. While the medical community had hesitated to embrace this diagnosis, Dr. Winarick's analysis provided a new lens through which to view Trump's actions, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Trump fits the clinical profile of a psychopath or sociopath," Dr. Winarick stated during our interview. This statement helped reframe the national understanding of Trump's behavior and decision-making process.

By sharing Dr. Winarick's professional opinion, we aimed to shed light on the potential underlying factors influencing the president's conduct. This perspective offered a new way to interpret and contextualize Trump's actions, providing valuable insights for the public to consider as they grappled with the challenges faced by the nation under his leadership.
