Harris Surge Erases Trump Lead
Recent national polls show a tight race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, with most results falling within the margin of error. Harris appears to be performing slightly better against Trump than President Biden was in previous polls, narrowing or erasing leads Trump had built up. Key battleground states remain competitive, with some polls showing Trump ahead in states like Arizona and Georgia, while others indicate Harris is improving Democratic performance in swing states.
Demographically, Harris is showing more robust support among young voters, Black voters, and women than recent Biden polls. Her favorability ratings have also increased since becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee. While Trump maintains a solid support base, there are signs of increased Democratic enthusiasm, with more Democrats reporting they are sure to vote. However, it's crucial to remember that these polls are early indicators, and the race remains fluid with several months until Election Day.
A New York Times/Siena College poll found Trump leading Harris 48% to 47% among likely voters.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that Harris led Trump 44% to 42%.
A CNN poll showed that Trump had 49% support for Harris's 46% among registered voters.
Polls in crucial swing states also indicate a competitive race:
An Emerson College poll found Trump leading in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania while tied with Harris in Wisconsin.
However, other polls show Harris performing better in some battlegrounds than Biden's previous numbers.
