Trump Is Rejected From Iranian Peace Talks, As Bibi Puts Trump's Gaza Plan on Ice

Benjamin Netanyahu refused Donald Trump overnight — and Netanyahu is the ally. He rejected Trump’s 15-point Gaza plan, the Washington Post reported at 1:07 a.m. ET, the BBC and Al Jazeera confirming within the hour, with American weapons still landing on his runways. The president’s closest ally wasn’t even willing to create some face-saving diversion for the president. Instead he stomped all over the peace plan in public. With friends like these, who needs enemies…

Those enemies are ostensibly Iran — and Ali Khamenei is also laughing Donald Trump out of the room. Iran’s foreign ministry ruled out talks with Washington while the United States stands in breach of the interim deal, Bloomberg reported at 2:53 a.m. — then called the deal taking shape in Muscat “very close.” Very close, with Oman in the room and no American at the table. Trump conceded the point a day early: the United States is “only semi-negotiating” with Iran, he told Axios on Sunday.

Semi. His word.

Netanyahu and Khamenei refused the same president for opposite reasons. Netanyahu, the ally, balked because Trump cannot enforce what he signs — so he kept the weapons and stepped back to wait for a president who can. Khamenei, the adversary, never needed to balk.
