🌊 TRUMP CLAIMS MOST OF LAKE ONTARIO'S WATER
What Trump wants in Canada is the Arctic. Narativ has been reporting it since 2019: Russia, China and the United States all want control of the top of the world, and a democratic Canada is in their way. On 27 August he signed an order renaming Lake Ontario "Lake America," and inside it he claimed the water — "the United States claims most of the Lake's volume." Then he listed what it gives him: the power plants it cools, the drinking water, the Coast Guard's 9 of 11 icebreakers, and the shipping through what he calls the "gateway segment" of the Seaway. That gateway line is the tell. The order moves no water and touches no treaty, and it gives Interior until 26 September. Carney answered with the Wendat word the lake already had, and nobody in Ottawa has filed a thing. The trade talks collapsed the same week he claimed the lake. For Canada, that timing is the warning.
🛢️ TRUMP'S BIGGEST OIL DEAL IN HISTORY DOESN'T EXIST
Trump announced the biggest oil deal in history on Truth Social Friday night, and by Sunday the oil was "a Gift from Venezuela to the People of the United States." We went looking. Nobody has published it: not on whitehouse.gov, not at Rubio's State Department, not in the Federal Register, not at energy.gov, not in Caracas, where Delcy Rodríguez describes 25 years, 17 fields and Venezuela keeping its oil. Switzerland wants the middleman, Alejandro Betancourt López, arrested. In March, Todd Blanche asked Zurich to go easy on him. Blanche now runs the department sitting on that request.
⚓ THE NAVY TELLS HEGSETH IT CANNOT FIGHT THIS WAR
Adm. Daryl Caudle told Pete Hegseth this month that the Navy cannot keep the Iran war going because nobody will name an end date, with barely one destroyer in four ready to sail, the Washington Post reported Sunday. Three combatant commands wrote down that they disagreed, then said they would do it anyway. Recruiting is breaking records; the interceptors are nearly gone. Hegseth is extending deployments into 2027 while American plants build twenty Patriots a month.
🏜️ NO WARNING COULD HAVE SAVED THEM
A flash flood tore down Bright Angel Creek Saturday, killed a 46-year-old man and took out both bridges; rangers put the missing at roughly 15. The Park Service saw this creek coming and built the alarm in February, and the alarm worked — twelve minutes was all it could ever buy. Nobody has said whether the storm patrols were out.
📺 TRUMP ESCALATES HIS ASSAULT ON JOURNALISTS
Trump asked the FCC to punish Kristen Welker for saying his endorsements had mixed results. His own network counted them eleven days earlier: 67 wins, six losses. He wants her punished for his arithmetic.
🎯 THE BIGGER PICTURE
Trump wrote on Truth Social on April 3 that with a little more time the United States could "easily OPEN THE HORMUZ STRAIT, TAKE THE OIL, & MAKE A FORTUNE." On June 11 he promised to "assume total control" of Iran's oil and gas. Six months in, crude sits near $90, Americans pay $4.10 a gallon, and Adm. Daryl Caudle has put it in writing that the Navy cannot keep it up.
American presidents used to arrive in other countries carrying human rights complaints. Trump arrives claiming the water and the oil. He has killed at least 227 people on about 70 boats since September and published no evidence that any of them carried drugs. He calls Venezuela's crude a gift and has published no document showing the deal exists. He put Lake Ontario's volume in writing. Empires in decline plunder to survive. That may not be what this is. It is where we find ourselves, 64 days from November 3.
