Trump is just plain stupid. He proved it by blaming Ukraine and Zelenskyy for causing diesel prices to remain high because of that country's strikes on Russia's oil refineries, most notably Moscow's biggest oil refinery on September 19th and 20th.
If Trump understood the fundamentals of the oil, gasoline, and diesel markets (which he obviously does not), then he would also understand that much of the world's supply of diesel and gasoline has been knocked out by Iranian strikes on oil refineries in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the UAE. All of those strikes have been in direct response to US and Israeli strikes on a major oil refinery in Teheran and on oil storage facilities in various parts of Iran. Trump doesn't want to be blamed for starting the war on Iran in the first place, but he is almost the entire reason for diesel prices being currently as high as they are.
