✈️ FLYDUBAI HIJACK
Benjamin Netanyahu says one flydubai pilot stabbed the other this morning and "it appears" he tried to crash the plane with about 170 people aboard, almost all Israeli. Flight FZ1073, Dubai to Tel Aviv, dropped more than 14,000 feet in under two minutes, Flightradar24 data show, and someone in the cockpit keyed the emergency code, then the hijack code. Nobody knows who. Passengers broke into the cockpit and off-duty pilots landed the jet at Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Netanyahu says the Saudis arrested the attacker; Riyadh has said nothing. flydubai calls it "an altercation" and says the motive is unknown. Netanyahu's office first said it was not a hijacking, then said it was investigating. An unnamed Israeli official gave Reuters the attacker's nationality; no authority has named him, said which pilot attacked which, or said why. Netanyahu was the first official to say anyone tried to crash the plane. What Saudi Arabia told Israel when it asked to fly its own planes in for the passengers is in the full story.
🇬🇧 FAIRFORD IRAN
Andy Burnham told the BBC there are "strong indications that Iran played a part" at RAF Fairford, the American bomber base. He gave no evidence. Marco Rubio got there Monday night — "the hands of a foreign actor" — naming Iran only as an example. Police found no explosive devices in the vans, only petrol, and bailed all five men Monday. Narativ reported Monday that a farmer's 999 call, not American surveillance, put police on those vans. Iran's embassy calls it "malicious speculations." Who first called police that night, per the BBC, is in the full story.
🗳️ PAXTON AUDIO
Ken Paxton told donors, on a leaked tape, that Trump's Dallas convention "dropped our numbers. Everybody's numbers dropped." The public polls show no real drop: Emerson had Paxton up one before the September 9–10 convention and James Talarico up one after, inside the margin of error. Paxton's campaign called the tape "manipulated nonsense." The one poll his camp answered with is in the full story.
📺 TAXPAYER ADS
Brendan Carr, whose FCC licenses the stations running Trump's taxpayer-paid ads, sees "nothing in there that strikes me to merit any sort of FCC review." John Thune: "It shouldn't be paid for with taxpayer dollars." Thom Tillis: "I hate it." Senate Democrats put the bill at $20 million. Tillis named the foreign leader the ads remind him of — full story.
🤖 FTC PROBES
The FTC is investigating OpenAI and Anthropic, testimony-forcing orders in draft — the hack behind it is in the full story. Word broke a day after Trump's self-policing accord and Cruz's AI-safety block. Congress is leaving. The FTC isn't.
🎯 THE BIGGER PICTURE
Ken Paxton tells donors what he will not say on a stage with Trump: the president costs him votes. Thom Tillis hates the ads Trump bought with public money, John Thune says taxpayers shouldn't pay for them, and a Wyoming Republican blocked the Senate vote against them; Brendan Carr, Trump's man at the FCC, cleared them the same afternoon. Republicans have done this all year — complain to a dozen donors, then stand beside him for the cameras. Voters go to the polls in 34 days. Which Republican says the private version out loud first is the question.

NEW ANALYSIS: The President Who Cried Wolf
Three armed men tried to kill Donald Trump in twenty-one months. Thomas Crooks fired eight rounds from a Pennsylvania rooftop and grazed Trump’s right ear on July 13, 2024. Ryan Routh waited in a sniper’s hide at the Palm Beach golf course on September 15, 2024. Cole Tomas Allen charged the magnetometer line at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night, fired, and put a round into a Secret Service agent’s bullet-resistant vest. Three armed attempts on one man inside twenty-one months.
Maybe Trump should have chosen to make himself very scarce until sfter the mid-term elections are over. But now it's too late and Trump can't help making himself the center of attention anyway.
Zev & Dean, did you see that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attributed two men in white van outside their kids' school as that Iranian plot at the English base trying to go after them.
