Fox News hired Karoline Leavitt on Monday. She goes on air as a contributor on November 1, 66 days after her last day as Trump's press secretary. Trump said on Sunday he had stopped watching the channel.
He posted it on Truth Social: Fox & Friends was skipping his rallies. "Our people want to see our Rallies, and reports on our Rallies, on FoxNews, or they will very quickly stop watching (like I am doing right now!)," he wrote. Fox answered a day later by hiring his spokeswoman.
Fox's chief executive praised her "authentic and sharp insight." Leavitt said she was "grateful for the opportunity" and promised viewers "the same energy and candor that defined my tenure." Trump had already given her his send-off, in the White House's own farewell release: "one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the History of the Office."
Leavitt is 29, the youngest press secretary in the job's history. She worked her last day on August 27, after the birth of her second child, and said she would spend time with her family and take a job at MAGA Inc., the pro-Trump super PAC. Thirty-nine days later she has a network.
She is not the first through this door, and Fox said nothing about what she did to the briefing room on her way out. Who went before her, and what did she leave behind?
