Nearly two in three Americans say Donald Trump is using the presidency to enrich himself. A third of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents agree.

That is the number inside the Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll released Sunday, fielded Oct. 9–13. The headlines ran the other one: Trump sits at 33% approval, 66% disapprove, a low. The enrichment question is the one that moved. About one-third of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents now say he is using the office to make money, up from about one-fifth a year ago, in the Post's own count. ABC cuts it tighter and gets 27% of self-identified Republicans.

Fox News got there four days earlier. Its poll, out Wednesday, Oct. 14, put Trump at 36%, his lowest in any Fox survey across both terms, and found corruption the top worry among voters, ahead of inflation and gas. Democrats led the generic House ballot by nine in Fox's count and by eight, 52–44 among likely voters, in the Post-ABC-Ipsos poll, where independents approve of Trump at 22%.

Republican strong approval fell from 63% in February 2025 to 39% now, and Republican disapproval climbed from 12% to 21%, in ABC's write-up. The lukewarm did not leave. The true believers did.
