👀 THE FRONT PAGE
🇷🇺 THE QUO
Donald Trump has 14 days until the midterms and 31% approval. In eleven days he has signed four favors for Russia, and Pete Hegseth is sitting on the fourth. He took Putin's call on Oct. 9 and his Treasury licensed Russian diesel into American ports through April 7, 2027, his White House told the Pentagon between Oct. 13 and 15 to slow Ukraine's military Starlink, and on Oct. 16 he signed an order waiving every Russia sanction in the Lindsey Graham act, with no end date and nothing about gasoline. Hegseth has neither approved nor refused the Patriot interceptors Ukraine's allies paid for. Trump got nothing at the pump. Brent touched $111.99 after Iran's Revolutionary Guard said two tankers burned on its mines. Putin would pay less to ship his oil. The Kremlin has signed nothing. Twice Russia helped, Trump won, and Trump paid. This time Trump is paying first. He has 14 days to find out what he is paying for.
🔥 KANSAS BURNS
Donald Trump went to Park City, Kansas, on Monday to save a senator and talked about France burning. He is at 31%. Reuters/Ipsos polled Oct. 16 to 19 and closed the day he landed. He came for Roger Marshall. "In 15 days, we're going to reelect Roger Marshall," he said. Then he told the crowd France is "a once great nation that is being conquered, looted, and burned to the ground by migrants, jihadists and communists who hate Christianity." On the border, he said: "If they win the midterms, they will do it again."
🗂️ UNMASKED
An FBI employee warned in writing on March 24, 2025, that releasing the Epstein files "would violate multiple statutes" and expose the victims. The FBI's ethics office closed the complaint the next day. Catherine Bruno ran that office. She was the FBI's chief ethics and compliance officer, and when the complaint reached her inbox she wrote that she intended to send it to the Justice Department's Inspector General.
🇧🇦 DODIK DEALS
Trump lifted Milorad Dodik's sanctions a year ago. Since then his chief of staff's daughter's firm gets $35,000 a month from Dodik's republic, two of his campaign men got paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for work there, his son went on a business tour there, and his envoy came back with a list of power projects.
🧭 THE BIGGER PICTURE
Trump paid Putin after the help in 2016 and 2024, as Narativ reported both times; this week he is paying first, in sanctions, diesel and Ukraine's missiles, at 31% and 14 days from the vote. Trump pays in advance only for a delivery Putin promised him, and the only delivery worth four favors at 31% is the election.
