Benjamin Netanyahu told his army Wednesday night to bring down the government of Iran. He will face voters on Tuesday.
"There is only one way to remove this threat once and for all: overthrow the regime in Iran," he told a graduating class of officers. "And that is my directive to the IDF, the Mossad and the security branches." He said Trump told him a few days ago that the United States was "ready to finish the job," and would only do it with Israel.
The job has a date, and it is not Netanyahu's. The Times reported Wednesday that the U.S. and Israeli militaries have drawn up plans for a short, heavy round of strikes on Iran after the American midterms on Nov. 3: energy sites, nuclear sites, the missile and drone stocks. Pete Hegseth flew to Ovda Air Base in the Negev this week to go over them with Netanyahu. Both air forces have been rehearsing over Iraq. Three carriers, the Marines and the jets will all be in place by early November.
Netanyahu wanted it two weeks ago, before either country voted.
