A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to restore Voice of America operations and immediately cease dismantling the United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM). U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth ruled the administration violated multiple federal laws when it abruptly shut down America's international broadcasting apparatus.

The court's preliminary injunction directly blocks Trump officials from silencing Voice of America, Radio Free Asia, and Middle East Broadcasting Networks – marking a significant victory for constitutional governance against executive overreach.

Judge Lamberth's ruling is unequivocal: the administration's actions were "arbitrary and capricious" and betrayed a contempt for law. The shutdown began March 15, when USAGM's new leadership under Kari Lake placed over 1,000 employees on administrative leave overnight and terminated contracts with partner organizations.
