Amazing discussion today! So appreciate all your insights. You're all rock stars. 🀘

Zev, would it be possible to share a copy of the live chat by any chance? Not sure what's possible with Substack lives. Lots of great commentary and info shared by folks in the chat that would be great to refer back to.

Thank you Zev, Dean and Lev. Very fortunate to have your 3 perspectives and the discussion. My gut agrees with you Zev, about not shutting Congress down, much as that is a horrible option.

A scary thought darted through me, that Trump could try to close off Congress more less permanently by just never re-opening ... could he do that, using Executive Orders to 'run' things? How convenient for him if he didn't have to deal with those messing elections. It wouldn't be legal... but is there anything that could stop him? I hope that is an easy 'no' answer...

You three are doing amazing work and so timely. Much appreciated!!

In addition to Congress, I believe STATE governments can provide guard rails.

Zev, While government shutdowns are awful (especially for govt workers), there are no guardrails on Trump now from the MAGA Congress. So Trump's threats of what he will do? He will (or won't) do them anyway and there will be not a peep out of the GOP. Plus it's clear that MAGA Mike doesn't want the House in session b/c he would then have to actually do his damn job and swear in the final vote to release the Epstein files.

Democrats have no choice but not to enable this regime any further. After all, should they really be voting for a budget that accelerates our own demise?

Everything sucks, but non-cooperation absent concessions that help the American people is the only option right now. And We The People are the only ones who can save us.

Here's a suggestion. How about inviting Amy McGrath to Narrativ to discuss the US military and Trump;s moves to politicize them? McGrath spent 24 years in the US Marines as a fighter pilot, the first woman in the US to do so. She does politics now. Tonight I saw her speaking about the Quantico meeting on The Contrarian substack. It was enlightening b/c of her long-time career. The insights Narrativ could offer to us, potentially, from the differing knowledge bases and experiences of, e.g. Lev and McGrath, would be amazing!

Thanks for the update., Zev. I believe the military will hold to COTUS over POTUS. We shall see how this pans out. In the meantime let all you know in the military in your community that you support them. The GI Rights HOTLINE for help is 1-877-447-4487.

The generals are absolutely silent πŸ€”πŸ‘πŸ‘

Ok, bottom line, what should we do? I believe it’s too late. They will just fire all of them and then what?

Cindy's avatar

In my understanding the president can not fire a general or anyone in the service. It takes the Congress to get that done. But you know tRump likes to break the rules.

Linda's avatar

That’s true on both counts!

I like your position Zev, lesser of 2 evils.

The number one priority for all has to be to get the Epstein files released, so whatever hastens that objective needs to be the top priority served. Nothing else will matter if those files are not released.
