She is describing a civil war, that is if American Blue states can get their own militia together. If they don't it will be like Russia in a forever war unless people accept the fascists. I have been advocating Blue State financial independence from the federal government. I left my family back in Chicago and flew back to Europe with my daughter yesterday, just the day after federal troops entered my city.
Catherine, On Monday Trump sent federal troops into Chicago. The entire time I was there I carried my passport with me, and many of the people doing work to help with our moving and doing work on our house and apartment were worried about ICE. They were having friends snatched the entire time. Some brutally. One was snatched from his home and as his wife ran after ICE with his legal documents, ICE threw them to the ground and took him anyway.
What is going on here does not look at all like that right now. My brown skinned niece and nephews are not safe if Trump sends military into cities to get target practice on people. They are not safe now. I have them carrying their passports on them all of the time. It is crazy.
Europe needs to get it together, but the government here is not suggesting in front of the whole world that they will be using their militaries to target citizens. There are other concerns right now, like defending against Trump's buddy Putin. I am preparing to do my part if there is a war here. In the US, which I am going back and forth to, I do not see any collective organized movement to fight against US military coming into Blue States to destroy us. One way to do that would be to have state's have their own militaries.
Zev and Dean, I agree with everything you’re saying in your comparison on the current president to Orban. However, my right wing friends and family members whose sole news source is the network whose founding CEO was Roger Ailes, are hearing completely different things.

Obviously Hegseth never heard of the Whistleblower Protection Act - he can not use the UCMJ against people for informing the American people through reporters. This is not classified information and it is wrong to classify that which is merely embarrassing! By the way, the War Dept never became the Defense Department - War existed from 1789 to 1947 - Defense Dept was created in 1949 from what had briefly been the National Military Establishment.

Unfortunately Donald will press this for all he's worth. He will rig the elections again. Who knows if it will stop at just 'blue states.' Red states like mine (MO) have St Louis & KC. They've already voted to gerrymander out KC's Congressional district. I'm sure there's no love lost with GOP & KC. We must mobilize & grow the numbers in protests to 5M. The 'Hands Across America' protest against hunger & homelessness had over 3M & that was in 1986, before social media planning. However, it was non partisan & we weren't divided. We just shone a light on these problems & some of the big corporations became involved. But it was a start. There's a link to Ben-Ghiat's Lucid in another post. The military who capitulate will occupy states & a state militia needs to be formed.

The only thing is that is not what stolen valor is. Stolen valor is when someone who has not been given a medal of valor like a Purple Heart, Navy Cross etc and claims that they have. Especially when they do so to gain from that stolen valor.
Canada should be glad about the gun policy false rumors, because that will keep those gun toting Americans from immigrating there. I am in Germany now, and was in Chicago on Tuesday, and I don't worry about gun violence here, because it is not common.
It’s maybe not a “what if” we get attacked by a foreign country, how will we react? It’s “this is what you get” when a foreign adversary is already directing your government because you’ve already been infiltrated. It’s not just Hegseth that’s not qualified, all the cabinet members approved by the senators have similar profiles, no? The assumption probably has to be that anyone not voting to release the Epstein files is in them, or their handlers/donors are, no? Time to clean house.
