Thanks to Jessica Yellin (News Not Noise) I was alerted today (8/25/25) that Trump today signed an executive order instructing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to create a “specialized unit” within DC’s National Guard “dedicated to ensuring public safety and order.”
Under this same executive order, Hegseth is also charged with ensuring “the availability of a standing National Guard quick reaction force” for “rapid nationwide deployment” for “quelling civil disturbances and ensuring the public safety [sic] and order whenever the circumstances necessitate.”
