A Gay Republican hotel developer defeats Trump-endorsed candidate to win the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

Curtis Bashaw, a pro-choice gay Republican and hotel developer, has secured the Republican nomination for U.S. Senator from New Jersey after winning the primary election. His victory over Mendham Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner, endorsed by former President Donald Trump, represents a significant shift in the state's political landscape. Bashaw will run against U.S. House member Andy Kim. Senator Bob Menendez plans to run independently, pending the outcome of his federal bribery trial, which could benefit Bashaw by splitting the democrat vote.
