Good news about the evil Heritage Foundation imploding. Can we get more of these evil right wing foundations to implode? I have been developing a list, started with the help of Katherine Stewart's book, "Money, Lies and God" which lists a lot of them, as does George Monbiot and Peter Hutchinson's book, "Invisible Doctrine: The Secret History of Neoliberalism."

Also, have been following the airline story closely because my husband chose Thanksgiving week to return to Europe through one of the busier airports in the US. I told him to bring snacks and a book, and hope his flight does not get cancelled.

Kevin Roberts (Heritage Foundation): "I disagree with and even abhor things that Nick Fuentes says, but canceling him is not the answer either. When we disagree with a person's thought and opinions, we challenge those ideas and debate."

So why won't MAGA even talk to Democrats, let alone debate them? Why give a platform to Fuentes instead and simply dismiss Democrats as "political adversaries on the left" with "vile ideas"?

And what are those Democrats' "vile ideas," anyway? Continuing SNAP and the ACA at at least the levels they were before Trump took office? Making it easy for people to vote? Not imprisoning people who look like immigrants for weeks or months before they get a hearing and making sure they actually get that hearing, and then if they are going to be deported, to make sure they get deported to a safe country, prioritizing places where they speak the language and have friends and relatives to help them when they get there? Not murdering people on fishing boats just so you can claim you are thereby punishing drug traffickers, when death is not normally the crime for drug traffickers anyway, and you can't even produce evidence? Not violating US and international laws?

It seems these "vile ideas" to uphold human rights and a functioning society are what MAGA Republicans don't want to talk about. As my brother reminded me recently, we had two uncles who fought in WWII against fascists. (My dad served also but the war ended before he was sent into any fighting.) I never got to meet one uncle because he died over the Pacific Ocean over a decade before I was born, but I know my father and his family loved this man very much and suffered a great loss. Sometimes I feel gratitude that my father passed away before Trump 2.0, because to see what is going on now would hurt him very much.

I've heard about other election shenanigans but hadn't heard about the bomb threats. There's another argument for mail-in ballots. I was glad that California informed everyone with their election materials before the election that they had a web page where you could check to see if your ballot was received. I don't know how many other states do that, but it's a great idea. One of the strategies used in Georgia and spreading to other states is to remove voters from the registration roles before the election and not to tell the people so removed so that when they try to vote, they can't, and if there is no early voting and no way to check if their ballot was received, they have no way of knowing when they've been rejected, so they won't know they should be contesting that.

What a fascinating event the convoy of vehicles to Ukraine is! I'm so glad the EU has stepped up to the plate to help Ukraine. I was reading on X the other day how France & Germany are providing planes (I don't remember the types) to Ukraine. Robert Reich has said this shutdown may end like the other trump shutdown did--with an air traffic controllers strike.
