That was then. Today my best suggestion is to demonstrate in small clusters of about 6 people, rather than be engulfed in a huge crowd. In a small cluster, you're not much of a target for Trump's thugs. Thugs (troops, ICE, guards, agents provocateurs) will aim to stampede the crowd and cause a breakdown of kindness / discipline. They want to allege a "riot". They'll harass and use tear gas, pepper spray, rubber bullets, water cannon, dogs, and/or whatever the hell they can to hurt demonstrators and incite a heavy response. Bring water. Demonstrate in very small clusters. Keep mobility. Stay calm. Record and upload fast.
FOX was sued and had to pay $787 Million for their lies and their argument was that they “are entertainment” and everyone should be able to tell that…. F*ck Ted Cruz. There is a special place in hell waiting for him. He is part of the reason the US is in this mess…. 🤬
Speaking of people inside government being silenced, there is report that Hegseth is investigating 300 people within the Dept of Defense for their having said the wrong thing about Charlie Kirk, the Trump annointed saint or prophet. Olga mentioned Cambridge Analytica. I missed that news back in Trump 1.0 (and before), so I looked it up. Sounds like the firm was selling targeted advertising services specifically to influence elections, but the data they collected goes beyond that. I wonder what raw data they passed on to their clients. They collected data not only about one's own posts but also looked at Facebook "friends". This suggests that the data could be used to implicate people - for whatever "crimes" a government or anyone else might want to pin on them - by association with other people and organizations, regardless of how Cambridge Analytica advertised their services.
I love the dialogue but how can you be optimistic that there will be a course correction given the magnitude of the criminality and authoritarianism? I don't mean to sound obtuse, but wait a second. You guys are literally experts in all things soul crushing in tragedy from Ukraine to S. Africa and back to Gaza after 20 years of all things Iraq through Syria. We're going to see a course correction without millions dying violently? I'm serious. Maybe I'm overreacting?
