Allison Gill has done some detailed research on the prepublication review of Bolton’s book in 2020, which shows that not only was the book cleared for publication, but the Trump administration acted in bad faith to try and suppress its release.
Bolton IS an idiot -- that's why Iran got ahold of classified information. Clearly, they're throwing the book at him b/c Trump hates him; but dude didn't have to make it so easy.
And, Lev: your comments on why the indictment is the "easy" part is terrific food for thought. You're dead on that it makes political, racial, etc indictments easy -- and that can destroy lives. (Though I don't know, yet, what we should ideally put in place instead.)

When that ditator from El Salvador was in the Oval, remember Donald said he'd be sending the 'home grown' to El Salvador? So that was the warning American citizens would eventually be arrested & thrown into prison. Pro Publica has reported there's already 270 American citizens arrested.
Yes, Sergio Gor was fired from his position in the Trump administration as WH Personnel Director, after he disclosed that he lied previously about being born in Malta when he was born in the Soviet Union. But he has now become the Ambassador to India, in accordance with the "rule" that sycophants who must be fired will be rewarded with an ambassadorship, as long as they are still willing to kiss Trump's ass. (See: Billy Long, ex-iRS Commissioner, who became ambassador to Iceland; and Mike Waltz, ex-National Security Advisor, who became ambassador to the United Nations...)
